Here is a picture of my Guide Dog, Uri! I've meant to share it for awhile but have been really busy in attempting to get a routine going since returning home.
Uri is an amazing dog who only has a few little trouble spots during our outdoor travel. He keeps me from running into signs and posts along with improving my pace incredibly!
It's just really stressful trying to work with him along with our family dog, Enoch. The two get along and then they get into play that gets a bit too rough. There are also times that Uri gets thrown off during our travel if he makes a mistake. We fix this together but he really doesn't seem all that good about himself when he's 'thrown off'.
To be honest I'm still really getting bonded with Uri. Meeting his needs on top of meeting all the needs of my family while trying to not feel all stressed has been a bit tricky. However we are getting there one day at a time. :)
It is honestly going to take about a year before uri and I are fully 'bonded'. It isn't going to be easy but anything worthwhile seldom is. Wish us luck as we become a powerful team for advocacy along with the best of travel companions.

Ditto! Actually my sister bought me a 4-Point Folding ane to bring along with me so, if things get a little scary, I can use the cane as a backup / aid for the travel around my town. (Where I live the textures of the sidewalks and crossings change a lot and can be quite confusing. Uri Does a great job with them allbut needs me to be more able to help him when we change things up on his routes to make sure he is genuinely keeping up his skills instead of just learning patterns.)
I'm looking forward to when winter is over or I get a job, as caring for Uri and working with him will be a whole lot easier. Though we've got things going okie-dokie here and I'm still managing some Pokémon Go!, too!

That's definitely my hope over here, Kaffre. *Snugs* We have good days and bad days. Toda, personally, I feel we had the best travel to date! So I'm definitely feeling better about incorporating him into my routine.
Thanks for all of your kindness and support, Kaffre. It's really meant a lot. Yep, yep!

Labs, German shepherds, and Retrievers tend to make for great service dogs. They also are extremely cute and very eye c to the general public. So much better than a white cane. :)
We are definitely working on building the best possible relationship together. They say it can take a yer and I totally believe it.

D'aww. Thanks, Plinkers! Our relationship is getting better with each day. some adventures with him can get scary but he's largely showing great improvement in helping me around town.
I do hope you have been doing well. It's been too long since I kept up with any of your updates. I'm so sorry. :(

D'aww. How has your special doggy been doing towards helping you? Have you noticed overall happiness going up since getting Elijah?
I'm sure, like my Uri, it will only be a matter of time before you two are in harmony. It's a little rough building the bond at the start but it does gradually get better.
My therapist helped me with my adaption by sag, "Think about how things were last week compared to this week? Do you notice you are having more good days? That you're not saying, or thinking, things that imply it isn't going to work? Just remember those as you take a deep breath in your nose and exhale out the thoughts you have ab stress."
I'm so glad you are still drawing, Plinkers. I miss your art but I'm elated to know you are still around doing it. :)

He's been keeping a constant presence in my life. Keeps me company as I don't do well alone and urges me to wake up easier (as well as eat breakfast) I also just keep loving this dog as he just sticks around and is a goofy fuzzball that loves me.
I've had him for a few months now and we are already really bonded. There were a few hiccups at first due to not knowing his schedule. He is also slowly figuring out my "alone time" schedules. Elijah already listens to his commands. He gets a tad worried still about not coming to work with me but he's adjusting. He's very smart and I love him so much

Elijah sounds like a true friend and strong service dog. Does he do any cuddling when you are enjoying your alone time?
How did you get to acquire your service doggy? Was Elijah recommended to you to help improve day-to-day life? Are there any special rules you have to follow to care for him?
For Uri I have to 'work' him for at least a miles travel each day. The emphasis being in knowing routes while also being exposed to variants to a significant walk to keep his skills sharp along with properly in shape.
There are other rules I have to follow to ensure an optimal partnership with uri. However the travel one is perhaps the biggest.
Has Elijah helped to inspire your art?
