I'm an avid reader of 
rickgriffin's webcomic "Housepets!" This little yarn (pun intended) is intended as a follow-up to the comic's latest story arc, which ended on a cliffhanger. There may be more coming later, but for the moment, consider this a one-shot.

Please note that the story makes references to several characters and events throughout the course of the comic's one-year history; if you've never read the comic before, then there's a good chance you may not know what's going on, so don't be afraid to check out the archives to get yourself up to speed!

It's interesting to read this in light of what's happened in the comic over the last year, where Grape's proven to be actually pretty dang well-adjusted when it comes to romance. This is a cute story, but I'm glad the actual comic's resolution turned out more complex and subtle.
On the actual story, I'll give you points for use of the word "nonplussed". The whole thing was generally well-written, although the accents of the cats grated a bit (though in fairness, they grated a bit in the comic, too). It reads a little out-of-character these days, but you can hardly be faulted for not predicting a year's worth of plot developments. Overall, it was a fun story. Thanks for putting it up!
