"For what seemed like hours, the Koopa finally emerged into a large chamber. Littered with holes, it's floor was occupied by a great long rug, laid in tatters and who's color's were dulled with age. Pillars that held up the room were still strong, though most of the blue tiled walls were missing. The most notable object however, was the elevated position where a throne was perched. Needless to say, it was what caught the eye of our protagonist after the massiveness of the room became accepted. Also needless to say, the Koopa imagined himself as a possible "king" or royalty of some sort who would sit in a throne like that.
Through some trick of the light, something shined against the throne's form. At a glance, it was coming from some fallen wall debris, an object shining under the pile. Curiosity taken, the Koopa reached a hand in, feeling for whatever was there. After a moment, his claws found themselves around something cold and smooth. But no sooner than his grip was formed around the object, than did he feel...something coming from it. Pulling it out, he saw that it was some sort of silvery rod with a purple orb at it's head. A keychain swung lazily from his base, a circle of some sort with half of it a dark blue, the other a dull black.
But it was more than that that alarmed the Koopa. The orb was glowing, and the light was spreading down it's silvery form...and through his hand.
Holding it up, our protagonist watches in panic as the orb suddenly burst forth more of it's purple light, causing his clothing to flutter and the ground around him to light up. It grew and grew until the wind whipping around him became so strong it literally tore his attire to shreds. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't let go as he stared in horror at the orb's flinging lights. Whatever it was doing, it was getting bigger, and the light was getting brighter. He could feel something was going to happen, and he was right in front of it. Closing and squinting his eyes, the wand in his hand glowed more and more....
And then, a sonic boom spread throughout the room. The walls shook, but did not collapse, unlike the Koopa with whom the wand was still stuck to. The rug under him was burnt, and his body felt heavy...so heavy that he drifted off into unconsciousness.
A shout awoke him, and he barely opened his eyes to see two Koopas staring giddily down at him. The leader, it seemed, between the two, wore a spikey blue shell that, for a moment, reminded our protagonist of the ball that had chased him not too long ago. The spike-shelled Koopa revealed that him and his partner had intentionally let slip about the "valuable treasures" of the underground castle, all to trap the one before them nicknamed "the shade", the local thief.
The spike-shelled Koopa's partner tries to take the the mysterious rod from our protagonists' hands, but is unsuccessful, pulling so hard that he accidentally slips on some...rather unfortunate liquid caused by the fallen, exhausted Koopa they had trapped.
While his partner reeled in disgust, the leader Koopa seems to recognize our protagonist...his focus made unaware of "something" coming to them. On the cusp of discovery, the spike-shelled Koopa barely catches the end of his partner being belted in the noggin by some object. Alerted too late, he gets attacked in the same manner, leaving him just as dazed as his partner.
Our protagonist, weakened and tired, stares up at his proposed savior, but his vision slowly blurs and blackens...till he falls unconscious again...hopefully for not the last time..."
