With great force, fire and toxic fumes emanated from Ray's body without any of his control. He set fire to several buildings and a the forest he ran into for salvation. During a cool down period, Wallop helped him get to the toxic river they crawled out of to help him keep the flames manageable. Wallop waited a safe distance for 12 hours making sure that his new friend wouldn't completely explode, as Ray started to gain more and more control over the flames.

When the new morning arrived he was already making snap flames with his fingers and spitting up fire at will. What ever was helping him generate this power was coming from his heart, and it possibly explained why he had the ability to fly earlier. He would constantly have to manage the heat that would come from this power source, otherwise the buildup of power would happen again...or it's likely this was just a build up of power he gathered while he was passed out.

Ray's powers come from a piece of a ultimate power core from his heart. It was separated into one of 4 pieces. With these powers he can generate flames by spitting like a dragon and from gathering sweat in his hands. The radiation also helps him to fly, but no real science is behind that feature, it might have something to do with magnetism. The "hood" is a collection of trash that he picked up along his path through the toxic waters, and it melted into his body and provides a strong shield. There is a tail at the end of the hood that he can use as a stabbing whip but it's not powerful enough to break through bone, but can break bone with enough repeated force.
