It didn't make sense to bioengineer organic grafts for robots..too many maintenance requirements and the tissue would be susceptible to thermal and radiation damage. The follicular nanoweave is maintained by an excess net charge built up by Omni's capacitive plating. There's also somewhat of a hypocritical public fear surrounding the melding of biology and technology in Omni's time.. It's illegal to build synthetics that mimic organics too closely. It would be black market tech. ^_^
