Succubats discern potential hosts by gender. Like male bats will go for men, female bats will go for women. Bats can detect gender dysphoria and will act according to that, and not just how the host presents.
Having a single new host among lots of bats lets them find the bat that's extra perfect for them, since it'll be the most aggressive. Similarly one bat in a crown of people will find the person that excites it the most

The body builder gets slightly stronger, just like any host (though it's more pronounced in weaker hosts), and also the 'bat does all the normal stuff to their bod. Succubats do everything non hosts can do.
Realtalk: when I first made succubats, I added a sort of exploit some people do with newborn queen parasites, called "crown crabs". Newborn queens turn hosts into huge hulking peeps, but the crown crabs attach to their head, injuring the host. It was supposed to be used by some more desperate and malevolent hives to turn people into ready made instantly soldiers and servants. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/24106288/
I had added them as like, a prompt for in setting drama and conflict. Some dark temptation for hives. But also like, over the past 5 months I've realized something important: people are terrified by succubats and hives anway??? Even IRL people who only know about bats will act like they're horror movie body snatchers. I'm starting to feel like I don't need crown crabs to justify in setting conflict, it can just be succubats, and how the queens get eternally hungrier. I'm currently working on refining them, for when I release a succubat profile page, with all the important info in one place.

I mean previously you said that people only dislike succubats due to propaganda, so I was wondering what changed.
Also I'd imagine that Crowncrabs probably still can and do exist, but if the hive is doing well it doesn't need to, but if the hive is doing poorly or is threatened you start seeing those.

No see. When I talk about IRL people being afraid of succubats, and don't talk about people in setting, and then YOU ask "Why do you think people are terrified of the succubats?", we're talking about IRL people and not ones in setting. Cause that's how conversation works.
