Thaena is an "Alterred Outborn" Xu'ul. This happens when an Outborn is exposed to a specific energy frequency that causes the nanomachines in their body to go haywire and forcibly mutate the Xu'ul in question based on the false perceptions caused by the energy they are exposed to.

Side effects are: Reduced height, darkening of fur color, production of the opposite sex's reproductive organs while maintaining current reproductive organs, changing of tail blade to a gear-like shape and development asexual reproductive capabilities.

What that basically means is: Thaena is a 4' Outborn Xu'ul herm with a gear on her tail and the ability to pop out a fertilized egg at will.
