For this month's first "Throwback Thursday", I have an appropriate 'photo-op' in honor of an event that took place on December 7, 1941. But first, a brief backstory...
Whenever a member of Scrabble Club 276 - attending the weekly Wednesday meetings at Veterans Park in Lauderhill, Florida - sets up his/her game board, the player makes sure that all one-hundred lettered tiles are there, by placing twenty-five of them (in a 5x5 configuration) in each corner of said board. I, myself, make sure that I have all of my tiles, in a totally different way...
I usually spell out a message at the top of the board (using as many tiles as possible), and placing the remaining tiles on the bottom two corners of the board (spelling out five-lettered words in the process). I'd posted previous 'photo-ops' of such messages, here in "Fur Affinity"...
On the December 6, 2017 meeting, there was an uneven number of players that night, so club president Sandee Bloom asked me to sit out Game One. This gave me the opportunity to set up a message with my tiles on my game board, in honor of Pearl Harbor Day (December 7, 1941). Sandee liked my message so much, that (during a break between games) she took a picture of me and said board - which I thought I'd share with all of you, on the actual day of the event itself!
