"Zanta?"
"What is it, Jangwa?"
"Why do you look so sad?"
The brown lioness sighed and said "I'm not sad, Jangwa. It's just that I'm a little worried about the upcoming birth of my cubs."
"Why would you be worried?" her young travel companion asked. "You're gonna be a mom! Isn't that great?"
"It's not that it isn't great, Jangwa." She replied. "It's just that...I was never exactly planning on being a mom. At least now while I was on my own."
"Then why did you get cubs inside you?"
"It wasn't my choice, Jangwa!" Their father..." Zanta looked away for a moment as she shuddered at the memory of that scumbag rogue Angani, the lion she so foolishly trusted who ended up violating her in ways that she'd rather not remember. She then looked back down to Jangwa and said "Well...let's just say that that their father did something to me that was REALLY bad."
"Did he hurt you?" Jangwa asked.
"Yeah. But don't worry. He's long gone. He isn't gonna hurt anyone anymore."
"Well, that's good." Jangwa then leaned on her and said "You know, Zanta. I think you'll be a good mom."
"What makes you think that?"
"You do a good job taking care of me. So I know you're gonna do the same with your cubs! I mean, it doesn't matter that their dad was bad, right?"
Zanta smiled and said "You know Jangwa, I think you're right."
