So now this is a continuation of the story where me and Rio left off with our honeymoon. Note this is a fan fiction and answering a what if question that is in no way shape or form canon to the HTH game. Enhjoy.

The Announcement
Almost two months had passed since Nicholas and Rio had returned from their honeymoon. Things were still normal at the island. Well not quite. Bella and Larry had also gotten married as well. That had also been a wonderful wedding. The folf had been one of the bride's maids like the polar bear had done for her. Those two were back from their honeymoon as well. But nothing yet had come about Bella being pregnant yet. Regardless people had gone back to work, which suited everyone just fine. As for Nicholas and Rio, the two were still happy to be married and the sex was still hot and steamy, even when they had just been dating.
A Thursday then came and it found Nicholas waking up first. The fosky as usual let out a yawn while stretching. After rubbing his eyes, the male looked down to the sleeping form besides him. His wife Rio was still asleep but still looked so beautiful even sleeping. They were both wearing shits along with the underwear since last night they hadn't had sex. The two didn't mind the breaks from it every now and then. The male decided to play with her for a bit. He rolled out of bed and purposely pulled the covers with him. Glancing back with a grin, the folf was forced of slumber as the warmth was replaced by cold air.
"Nicholas," Rio mumbled, eyes still closed. "Stop it."
"And who will make me?" he taunted playfully.
That did it and caused the female's eyes to snap wide open. She grabbed a paw full of her husband's shirt and pulled Nicholas towards her, simultaneously twisting the folksy on his back as the folf leapt onto his stomach, effectively pinning Nicholas. There was little else the guy could do except to reach up and tickle his wife's sides. The male did so, causing Rio to shriek, pushing away from her husband as Nicholas flipped her over, not relenting from his playful torture. This went on for a minute before the fosky leaned in and kissed Rio. She just answered him back and it was a bit before the two pulled back to look the other in the eyes with love. "I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm not," the fosky stated with a smirk.
"And I'm not either," the female replied with a grin and kissed Nicholas on the cheek.
"God I love you."
"And I can't help but love you to." Suddenly Rio let out another yawn.
"Uh-oh, are you feeling well?" the male asked, concerned his wife was getting sick.
"I'm fine, Nicholas," the folf grumbled, most of the time touched that her husband was great with being concerned, but it sometimes went a little too far. "I'm just tired. I'm sure there have been days where you've needed extra sleep."
The fosky nodded as he had that happen. "Well if you do need anything, I'll be downstairs, okay?" Rio smiled and brought him in for a sleepy kiss. "Love you."
"I love you to." The female pulled the covers all around her and settled back in their bed. Shrugging, the male got ready for the day.
It was some hours latter when Rio finally did rise from bed. The folf went downstairs and found Nicholas at the dinning room table with papers and bills and going through them. A laptop was open and the guy was typing in the numbers. The female went over and wrapped her arms around him from behind. This cause the male to jump but then settle down when realizing who it was. "Hey you," Rio cooed and kissed his cheek. "Whatcha working on?"
"Just the bills love," he replied and squeezed her forearms with his paws. "I figured I should get started on them."
"Good for you," the female commented and came off her husband to look at him in the face.
"Anyways, I was wondering when you would get up. It's almost lunchtime."
The soft smile on her face suddenly fell at the mention of food. Her stomach seemed revolted at the thought of it, which was odd, since Rio hadn't eaten anything since last night. She should have been starving. But now the folf couldn’t tell if she was so hungry that she felt sick or was going to throw up. Nicholas's head turned to the kitchen. "Anyways, I was thinking about making one of the pizzas in the freezer since I'm in the mood for that. How's that sound?"
The answer to that was a chocking sound from his wife and her running to their bathroom. "Rio?" the fosky asked and ran after her. He heard the sounds of retching even before opening the bathroom door to find his wife getting a first name basic with the toilet she was throwing up in. Hearing these sounds made the male wince. It wasn't as bad when it happened late at night, but was close. Still the fosky hating seeing his wife like this. Luckily it didn't last much longer and the sound of a flush made him look up to her as the folf slowly got up.
"Uh… you need anything honey?" he asked weakly. His wife reached out and swatted him with a towel.
"Yeah!" Rio snarled. "Do me a favor and don't mention food again for a long time!" The female didn't want that to happen again anytime soon.
Her husband actually took a step back and stared at her with wide eyes. The folf was beyond angry; she was pissed. This was beyond the temper he had seen in the folf before. The female was in a rare mood and sick as well. "Maybe you need to take it easy today…"
"No way," his wife replied and went to their bed. "I'll just lie on our bed for awhile. Just… go away."
Those words cut Nicholas and his tail and ears dropped sadly as the same look came into his eyes. Rio saw that and instantly felt extremely guilty. The female held her arms out to the male to tell him to come to her. He did uncertainly. "Sorry baby," the female whispered. "I didn't mean to sound so harsh. After that I couldn't help but snap at you. I'm so sorry."
"You're… not mad?" Nicholas asked, his arms going around her.
"Not anymore after seeing your look and how that hurt you." The two looked into the other's eyes. "Although after that… I need some time to think. Can you at least give me that?"
"Okay…" the fosky replied softly. She felt him touch the side of his face.
"I love you," Rio told her husband. "Nothing's ever going to change that. I promise."
That seemed to cheer Nicholas up and he nodded with a smile before leaving his wife. That freed the female to go wash out her mouth of the vomit. As she did Rio realized she was late. In fact she hadn't had a heat ever since the honeymoon and it was close to two months now. The canine hybrid hadn't gone back on the pills; she was finished with those. So was there something wrong; seriously wrong? An infection or something else? Rio sighed as she thought back over the past days. The female had been growing more and more tired in the past month, had often felt nauseous after meals, and her breasts were feeling a bit tender. That's when it hit the folf as all of it came together in a gut feeling. One that told the folf she was pregnant.
Grabbing her phone since Rio had to find out one way or another and dialed her favorite doctor on the island. Nicholas liked her as well after being introduced to her by the folf. After discussing the symptoms with the other female, Rio got an appointment the next day. Hanging up, the female hybrid thought of how to tell her husband. He had asked on the honeymoon about them trying to have kids so soon. Nicholas had totally seemed for it. Thinking back to the time when finding out she was in heat, the female found the feeling and thought of being a mother, of how she was ready, came back. Rio smiled but the small part of her brain that was still rational told her to calm down. There was no point in getting excited about a baby if the female wasn't even pregnant. Rio couldn't help but think of how the fosky was going to react. Surprised for certain but hopefully happy.
The next day the two arrived at the doctor's office at the hospital like building on the island. Nicholas couldn't help but wonder what he and his wife were doing here. The folf wouldn't tell him what the reason for coming here. He had come in his special shoes though. "Here, have a seat right there love," the folf told him as she continued to the check in counter after the two had entered.
The fosky watched his wife and the receptionist converse quietly before she returned to his side in a seat next to his. "Are you finally going to tell me why we're here?" he asked.
"No, not yet," she replied with a smile and her tone was a bit playful.
"Fine you can keep your secret if you want. But I'm going to find out sooner or latter since I know you’re hiding something."
"Oh really?" the folf replied in fake shock.
"Well you'd at least tell me if it was something very serious or life threatening, wouldn't you?"
"Of course I would. It's nothing like that. I promise you."
"Okay," Nicholas replied, relief in his voice.
A couple minutes latter Rio was called into the back. She got up and took her husband's paws into her own. "Hey, it'll be fine. You'll see," the female cooed and walked away.
Nicholas was left there to think what it could possibly be. The guy couldn't think of anything and wondered if maybe it was something minor and Rio was checking on it just to be safe. His thoughts were interrupted after some minutes and was called to the back by the female doctor that his wife had called. The two went to the room to find the folf waiting for them. "So are you finally going to tell me now?" Nicholas asked her.
Their eyes locked and he saw that Rio had almost joy in her eyes and a smile that was becoming larger as she looked at her husband. "I'm sorry honey," the female replied after rising up and taking his paws into hers again. "I'm sorry… but I wanted to make sure before I told you."
"Tell me what? What are you talking about?"
Rio paused for a moment and then answered. "I'm pregnant!"
Those two words instantly had a change in Nicholas who froze with shock. It was his whole world changing at that moment. He couldn't speak as the fosky's mind went into hyper drive, replaying the past weeks. He remembered what had happened on the honeymoon with Rio telling him she was in heat. How much had gone into her during the sex. His wife had made no mention about another heat after that and so the fosky hadn't worried. But looking back he realized just how tired she had begun to be, as well as the vomiting yesterday. It all fit together like a puzzle. "A baby…" he muttered. "How did I miss it?"
"I'm left to wonder as well," the female doctor commented with a smile.
The fosky turned back to his wife who was looking at him with a worried look. This was taking way longer than she thought it would have. Was Nicholas actually scared or something? "Nicholas…" Rio whispered. "Are you okay?"
"No…" he answered and then got a big grin on his face. The news was making the feeling his wife had imagined to come out in a rush. "I'm more than that; I'm thrilled and so happy for us… I'm going to be a father!"
"I'm going to be a mother!" the female hybrid stated getting closer to her husband.
"A father!" the fosky repeated.
"I'm going to be a mother!" Rio exclaimed and the wedded couple hugged each other with a laugh. After a couple of minutes they turned to the doctor who gave them the due date of when the baby would be due, or roughly when it would be, and when a prenatal screening should be done. The two canine hybrids just left the doctor's happy as could be.
A few days latter found the two heading back to the guest house her parents were staying at. Paul and Fran were visiting again in the same place they had been staying at when the two had told them about getting married. They decided to let the folks and family know first before telling everyone else. Once again two calls had been made so that way Nicholas's family would be ready for the face time that would be done at the guest house her folks were at. "Let me just remind you how much my mother is going to cry for joy," Rio told her husband as they got closer.
"I know honey," he told his wife. "I'm not worried about your mother, I'm worried about your father. I still don't think he's that thrilled about our relationship."
"Daddy will be happy about a grandchild no matter how much he may dislike you." The two made it to the steps leading to the door. Nicholas with a goofy grin jumped ahead to one of them and held out his paw like he was escorting the folf. She giggled and took it with the grace of a princess. Holding paws the female ran the doorbell. Fran answered it once again.
"Oh there you two are," the mother vixen whispered and hugged them both. "Well come on in." The three walked to the living room. Once again Patrick and Farrah were on the couch both looking like they were wondering why they had been called here. Paul was standing up and raised his head when the newcomers walked in. He held out his arms to Rio for a hug and she went right over.
"Hey there," he whispered. "Still looking beautiful."
"Oh daddy," the folf laughed again like the first time when coming over to tell about marrying her husband.
The lupine father then looked to Nicholas and struggled to reply. The other male wasn't wearing his special shoes this time. "Hello… Nicholas."
The fosky just nodded figuring he couldn't appease his wife's father before getting the face time set up. In just a couple of minutes his mother, father, brother, and Sarah were live and waving to everyone else. "Hello again," Linden said with a smile. "It's so nice to see your faces."
"Same," Fran replied. The mothers liked each other and Vincent liked Rio's family. Soon those in the living room were sitting down.
"So, why have you gathered us here again?" Patrick stated. "It can't be because you're telling us you're divorcing."
The corsac fox had a grin on his face and Farrah elbowed him. "Not funny…" she growled.
"Just a joke, relax."
"Yeah I bet someone wishes," Nicholas thought with a roll of his eyes, referring to Paul.
"Well…" Rio began and looked down before back up again, smiling. "It's something else that me and Nicholas need to tell you."
"Tell us what?" Fran asked and one of her eyebrows went up along with Linden's.
"This had better not be anything bad since I told you to take care of her," Paul growled, glaring daggers at Nicholas. The fosky glared right back, not backing down an inch. “She deserves that much even from you.”
"It's not," the longhaired male stated. "And not to step out of line here sir, but considering how happy I make your daughter, I have more than enough right to be married to her."
"When you have a daughter of your own, you'll learn that no male is worthy of her."
Rio just giggled and clapped her paws together, causing all to look at her. "Actually… it's funny you mention that daddy because… Nicholas and I are going to be parents."
The silence that followed was so deep a pin could be heard dropping. Fran and Linden looked at their married child in shock. "Parents…?" the first vixen asked.
"You mean…?" the other whispered.
"Yes, that's why we gathered you all here to tell you in person," Nicholas stated with a grin and wrapped one arm around his wife.
"OH MY GOD!" Fran shouted and jumped up with a happy yell as did Linden.
"My son's having a kid!" Vincent stated, hugging his wife.
Sarah and Farrah were like the mothers and hugged their boyfriends. Lucas was still shocked but now grinning. "Oh congrats honey!" the corgi Sarah told him while giving her guy a kiss. "You're going to be an uncle!"
"I'm going to be an aunt!" Farrah told Patrick while he looked at the grinning wedded couple.
"Congrats you to," the corsac fox told them.
Paul was the only one who had stayed silent in disbelief, having only been silenced like this once before when he found out he was going to be a father for the very first time. He walked passed his wife who was crying with tears of happiness and hugged Rio again. He pulled back looking at her with pride. "My first little girl… is all grown up," the lupine whispered.
"Daddy, I have been grown up," Rio replied with a smile. "You just haven't accepted it."
The lupine turned to his wife to hug her. "I'm going to be a grandfather!" Paul cried.
Sometime latter the wedded couple left the house. "Well that went better than I thought," Nicholas said to Rio. "I think your dad's finally accepting of me."
"I told you he'd be happy," the folf commented. "Besides all he's wanted if for me to be happy and I've been that with you. No matter what has happened."
"Now then… about the rest on the island…"
