The Greyjoy class Cruiser was a design that originated sometime in 2325, it was designed to function as a replacement for the older Excelsior class Cruisers and featured many design elements that would later be used in future designs like the Ambassador class which entered service a decade later. The USS Greyjoy would become a regular sight during its career as a patrol vessel in the Beta Quadrant for a number of years and would eventually take part in a number of engagements against hostile forces seeking to cause grief for Federation colonists in the region, the USS Greyjoy would take part in the Dominion War where it would function in the role of torpedo cruiser using its strong arsenal of eight forward firing torpedo launchers. After the war, the USS Greyjoy would undergo a refit that would replaces its partial phaser arrays with a pair complete arrays and other elements of modernization while its secondary array of Phaser batteries would remain the same although heavily ungraded to make them a greater threat to enemy craft.
