… what is it about babyfurs that make them this event horizon of cuteness? Or maybe it's just me and my weak spot for cute things, and the fact that cute things totally make me melt.

It makes us melt as well. I suppose it's a mystery we'll never solve D:

I actually remember reading an article somewhere that studies showed that human males were genetically programmed to find things with particular deformed features cute, or at least protect them, like babies or puppies or kittens or stuff like that. The idea was that this would encourage males to stick around and protect the offspring of their species, even if it wasn't their offspring, thus acting as a defense mechanism. This would also extend to puppies and similar baby animals, thus perhaps explaining why even tough manly men melt in the presence of cute animals. I might be misremembering the article, and I can't even find it anymore, so I can't check my facts, but it was an interesting idea regardless. It doesn't totally explain things, so I'll just chalk it up to "it's cute" and then sit back and enjoy the art.
