well there are two worlds, lananara is of course very far away, and has its own everything it needs,
but the other, is post ecopocalyptic earth, and all sorts of things might very well be 'left over'.
(not our contemporary cultures, which are only hinted at in obscure histories, but bits and pieces of our 'stuff' occasionally turns up here and there)
