i was a little confused on this as well xD
i dont understan the bow, but the whole piece as a whole is stunning and beautifully done.
might i suggest placing in a few more sharp highlights? or darker shadows. some of the color, especially around the chin/muzzle area, kinda blend together

I can see what you mean, but i think it as combination of a few things that makes it hard to see the muzzle and the neck fluff apart, firstly we have the angle we look from, and then there is the placement, of the character, he is in the shadow with not much light actually shining on him, making any shading faint at best.
