Eons behind us
Not captive to time
A future before us
That we will define
We are here by design
I am yours and you are mine
Eternally intertwined
This Eden is our paradise forever

This year's anniversary art, celebrating not only hitting the 5-year mark but also our engagement AND moving into a new apartment. :) I went back to the Secret of Kells art style, since it's so fun to draw and to look at.
We're still getting settled in up here but I can tell already we're going to be much happier with this place. For myself in particular, I've missed living upstairs with a view and having sunlight pouring into the windows, both things I've gone without for the last three years. We will also be closer to family and friends up here which is a huge plus - we've felt rather isolated where we were and the two hour drive to visit will not be missed. And, a change of scenery is never a bad thing either.
For the art, I wanted to focus more on Luthien and Pachua's actual home for this one, which is basically a GIANT oak tree. Their living space, a large platform they've built into the tree, rests right on the crown nestled in where the main trunk starts to branch out. They've shaped many of the smaller branches into living balconies, where they can stand and enjoy the most amazing views in Middle Earth, overlooking the forest canopy that stretches for miles all around them. The central part of their home contains all the comforts found in any living space, with a bit of elven ingenuity to pull it all together. There are no walls, leaving their space open to the outside air, but Valinor has a constant fair climate so they never have to worry about the elements, other than perhaps a light rain or breeze, both of which are buffered by the tree's many branches. To reach the forest floor, large winding staircases wrap around the trunk, with additional platforms placed along the way to offer resting points (for climbing back up because that's a lot of stairs!). It sounds like a lot but they've had several decades together to work on it, and they're always maintaining and adding to it as needed.
Someday I'd like to illustrate more of this but so far I've only really done a few concept sketches here and there. I'm still struggling to come up with an actual name for this place - I tried going straight for Sindarin but the words for Tree and House/Home didn't really sound as nice together as I'd hoped.
Anyway, this was the first piece of art I completed in the new apartment and it's already hanging on the wall with previous years' anniversary pics. :)

Still, I'm happy for you two. ^^ I think it's awesome that you two are finally in a place that you can be happy at, and are getting settled in.
'Lorug' is 'Tree' Ilythiiri, but that doesn't sound to good for a home. 'Taur Delmah' means 'Forest Home', which sounds a little better. And at least Tree Home sounds better in Sindarin than Forest Home, but you're right it doesn't quite roll off the tongue pleasantly enough to be the name of a home. You could go with 'Nimloth Near' I suppose, since it sounds a little better, but the translation is kinda dull. Still, that's the closest I could get to it and still be technically correct. x3
