About
These animals appeared after an explosion of bright light flashed the earth. People who live in the countryside or near forests would report seeing tall, strange deer running through their backyards, scaring every animal they own. People would try to hunt them but they're too quick to shoot.
Their hearing and smell is amazing, but despite having 4 eyes, they can't see very well. Their vision is blurry. They use their smell, hearing, and tails to get around. Their string tails are made of strong, flexible, string like bone. The “string” is so strong that they can use it to hang from trees and pull heavy objects out of their way. They use tail tuft to feel objects around them and it's very sensitive. They’re around 6ft and rarely exceed 6”5’. Herds are made of 5 to 8 “deer”. It’s rare to see more than 10 in one herd or one alone. They’re often seen traveling with a sibling or their parent if they aren’t in a group. Grenndeer are omnivores. They hunt or forage depending on season, availability, or preferences. Theses animals can live up to 100 years. Possibly more.
Female Grenndeer usually take charge in the herds. The males are the betas in the group and the Ambiguous ones are the Omegas. Although, they treat each other the same, there are limits to how the higher levels will be treated. Higher levels do not treat the lowers worse than they treat each other but there are punishments if the highers don’t get respect. From the foals, it is normal, and they will learn. From young adults who try to rebel, they will be kicked out of the group. Even if its only one. Rebels are the ones who are more commonly alone and aren’t very friendly to other Grenndeer or animals. They constantly start fights and get themselves killed from a herd or injuries that they refuse to get treated. They can find mates though. But that is also rare.
Mating depending on their seasonal preference or food availability. They will refuse if there is very little food to feed their group or they don’t want to mate in that certain season. They have 2-3 foals in one pregnancy. The mates run from the group to a secluded area and pick up sticks, mud, and leaves to make waterproof dens. They come back to the group when the young is born or the will find them before birth and keep their distance. They’ll kick out any number of young adults if the group gets too big. Its rare for a couple to have more than 3 foals, but it is possible. They mate once a year and will not mate with another Grenndeer if they have already mated, even if their mate dies.
