Critiques Welcome (Mostly for help in colouring with black colour pencils)
I didn't bother to do a background. I suck at doing them traditionally ^^;
History:
Kuro the Shadow Dragon is the only dragon I have right now that's furred. He's also a bit more fun-loving than Blizzard. He can sometimes be labeled a simpleton, but he's just a big goof. A kind heart in an unforgiving world makes him weak in other Shadow Worlders' eyes and others are keen to take advantage of him. His raven Shikkoku tends to take advantage of him the most, as she secretly can control his mind when he sleeps. Under Shikkoku's influence, Kuro becomes a dangerous and often deadly beast to be around. It's completely opposite of his gentle nature.
Kuro owns his own country in his world. He thinks he only has one country, but under Shikkoku's influence, he has conquered many.
Like Blaze, he can be spotted in a beast's pub, downing a drink or two. Unlike Blaze, he mingles with others well and He drinks very little and usually has to help Blaze's drunk butt home.
If you ever need help, call on Kuro and He'd be there. Just don't mind Shikkoku's Taunts and threats ^_^
Art History of Kuro:
Created around 2002, a dragon was created to be a mate for Blizzard. He was a gorgeous dragon, covered in brilliant gemstones. His name was Koka na Houseki (Precious Jewel). Sadly I realized I couldn't draw the Gem pattern drawn out for him and gave up on him. Left alone until 2007, I decided to make an easier version of him with only bejeweled armour, but quickly gave up. So Instead of jewels, I gave "Koka na" fur and renamed him Kuro, while still keeping his original facial horns in the switch. He's single BTW X3
Kuro Created July 28, 2007

bloodgoldwings' advice and Put down a base mix of red and blue then overlayed it in purple for his wing webbing. And for his fur, I put down a base of purple and went over it in black. That probably won't show up ^^; I didn't have a dark red for his horns.

Hehehe, I wanna hug him! And his character design is
As for coloring, here's my tips, but they are more general than for this picture specifically.
First and foremost, start LIGHTLY, nothing ruins a lineart you love better than pressing down and getting a waxy finish to something you've barely started - and if you mess up its harder to fix. It is best to start light, then work your way up until you reach the color you want. Also, mixing colors makes colors pop. As in this picture here, I notice that in his wing webbing you used purple: a mix of red and blue. If you put a very light layer of both blue and red underneath it will give it a more dynamic look. When you do this tho it is better to start with the lighter color first because if the darker color is down first you won't be able to tell how evenly you laid it. From there, experiment! I have an artist friend who literally put about seven colors when she only needed three or four but it looked amazing (You don't have to go to this extreme, but imagine the possibilities).
However, I do applaud you for having the lines follow the shape of the object you were coloring. The last hint I will say is to use shorter lines - it gives you more control and will look more smooth.

^^ He really does look good! Great job! All it really takes is practice, the more you'll try it the better you'll get! Colored pencil is really my favorite way to shade.
Oh, and something else I do on occassion - If I have a piece I am afraid to screw up, I will make a high-quality copy of the lineart and color on the copy first, just in case :3
I look forward to more art from you
