According to an article in Famitsu Magazine, The first Mega Man game was once called "The Battle Rainbow Rockman" which could be inspired by the different color whenever Mega man Accquires a new Power-Up.
Mega Man's original design was created by Akira Kitamura and later refined by Keiji Inafune. When Mega Man X debuted, Inafune had plans for his own version of Mega Man, but his vision wasn't X; it was Zero.
Dr. Light and Dr. Wily's full names are "Dr. Thomas Light" and "Dr. Albert Wily" they get their names from Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein.
