After seeing a couple people posting pictures of their cars, I figured I should show off mine, my 1982 Chevrolet El Camino which i've affectionately named 'Monty'. He has a 1968 327 beating under the hood connected to an Automatic transmission. My uncle used to have a 1983 El Camino and so I felt it was only right for me to have one as my first car. He is my daily driver and I love him to pieces. His paintwork is pretty terrible, but that'll get sorted after everything else is done. I plan to have a full all around disk brake system, a Manual transmission swap, bucket seats, aftermarket exhaust system, a full tune up of the engine, and the interior fully changed over from blue to either tan and black or full on red. He's a good old boy, and it'll be 3 years since I went down to Youngstown, Ohio to go and bring him home. From the sounds of it, i'll be getting a pay rise next year, so hopefullly that means i'll be able to get some proper big work done on him soon and turn him into my dream car. Oh, and incase you were wondering WHY his name is Monty, it's because this generation of the El Camino shared the same G Body platform as the Chevrolet Monte Carlo at the time and also, just like the British comedy group Monty Python, he never ceases to make me smile. Oh you're fine, most classic cars do. I knew that when I got into Monty, owning a classic car is a life of passion. They may not be the best looking thing among cars of its age right now, but among a sea of modern cars that almost all look pretty similar thanks to aerodynamics and evolving crash and safety regulations, classic cars really stand out from the crowd. They just knew how to make cars look unique back in those days, a Chevy didn't look like a Ford, a Chrysler didn't look like a Toyota, they all had an identity, a personality and an experience all of their own, and that's why I love classic cars.
