Lu Zaxby is an ex-ranger-turned-musician-turned-racer. Initially, he was a Deroteer (the Derot is a beast resembling the dinosaur Parasaurolophus, while a Deroteer is a pilot of such a beast), riding it into battle. He then joined a travelling band who would ride upon airships and play for it's passengers (think street performers but on a zeppelin). He left the group some time later to become a competitive Deroteer, racing the beasts for sport.

I planned on writing a pretty non-serious story about how he's going to be in a big race, and all his old friends travel from far to see him- naturally they find trouble on the way for plot purposes :/
