The Shani people are a civilization living on a set of islands, the Shani Islands, found in the Shani Sea (take a shot every time I say "Shani", damn). They are lead by a school of monks, and the same monkshood have heavy presence in Lok Bade, a nearby city potentially built from the skeleton of an ancient beast.

The Shani monks can be categorized into two halves- those who reside under the protective glass dome of Shani City, and those who lead drug caravans through the deserts. Neither follow the more common monk traditions- they live in lavish nobility and opulence, and have a high societal position.

The common drug among their people is the Shani Painworm- a snake-like slug which secretes a toxin which stimulates the nervous system and pain receptors, potentially even resulting in temporary paralysis. These Painworms have been genetically engineered by the brilliant school into the Pleasureworm. Rather than result in pain, the worms stimulate numbing pleasure, and are commonly owned by most nobles.

The Shani Monks are technologically superior to many, and are truly a nigh unconquerable force.
