Plug-in VST synthesizer I made with SynthEdit (registered). Not bad for a first attempt, I think. Being VST it will work with Sonar, Cubase, Fruityloops, etc.
Features:
6 voice polyphony (for now)
4 Oscillators (including white/pink noise)
3 LFOs with 1 sample/hold
2 Freq mod
2 Ring mod
6 ADSR envelopes
3 Filters
2 VCAs (amplifiers)
Routing/modulation etc is selected with the slider switches. Sorry, no documentation as of now, but if you know a bit about synthesizers you should be able to figure it out.
You can download here. Constructive criticism appreciated!

I know there's a protocol and a plugin that does it, but the way it works would make an attempt to use a plugin in a live format (even just live playback) might not work too well (given, this is going off what I read several years ago; things might have changed, but it still takes some time to render even a short clip depending on the complexity of the instrument.)
tl;dr: Yes, but it might not be a good idea xD

Thanks. Glad it works well for you. Have fun!
I plan to use this for my next music composition.
Still needs a few tweaks and such, such as a polyphony control.
It CAN eat up CPU if you use a lot of very complex patches at once, but
with dual and quad core CPUs nowadays, I don't think that's something most
will have to worry about.
