What is the difference between a demon and a god? A miracle and a contract? A church and a cult? Fear and reverence? Isn’t it all a matter of perspective? From the right stance, anything is holy.
Aggamalanthe is a monster playing as both a god and a human. Vain enough to feel the need to be worshiped, he created a church; modest enough to take a human form, he decided to join his own clergy and be the first to shepherd hungry lambs into his light.
It didn’t start with his vanity. In the beginning, a man on the road mistook him for a priest. The fearful sinner took him aside and begged him to speak to the clergy. He was regretful of his sins, he assured, and the idea of being excommunicated was tearing apart his very soul. Aggamalanthe was, and still is, weak to a man on his knees.
Besides, there was a sort of taboo to it. It was exciting, so wrong and so right. A sick thrill in playing the part of the generous priest. What he does for them, he does for himself. He loves it when innocent lambs eat out of his hand and depend on him, devote themselves to him.
