Examples of all the nice chain weaves I've done (not including ones with scales). I basically just dug through my room and found what I found, so that's my excuse for the inconsistent lengths etc. I would be happy to make bracelets or necklaces or leashes or collars or arbitrary lengths out of any of these. (For purposes of people curious about getting something, the weaves marked with a star are thick or more complicated and would thus cost more.) From left to right:
European 4-in-1 (the absolute basic chainmail pattern)
Roundmaille*
Serpentine
Byzantine (a personal favorite for elegant chains)
Half-Persian 3-in-1
Half-Persian 4-in-1
Full Persian 6-in-1*
Boxchain
European 6-in-1
European 6-in-1 wider*
Japanese 12-in-2*
The weaves to the left of Half-Persian 3-in-1 (the bracelet with the black) I can currently make with colored neoprene rubber rings and anodized aluminum rings of any color.

www.mailleartisans.org is where I learned from. Check out their beginners articles, but take them with a grain of salt. They've got a bunch of tutorials on various weaves. Start out with European 4-in-1. Bare-bones materials to start out are two pairs of pliers, a decent pair of wire cutters, some wire and something to wrap the wire around. You can also buy pre-made rings from www.theringlord.com, who also has a good selection of other supplies. (They're where I get the scales I use.)
