encounter procedures
UANEF and NBA regard IO017 individuals to be non-hostile unless provoked. Encounters between Expeditionary Units and IO017 individuals are to be avoided. Should encounter occur, unit members are to act formally with guides and translators within the unit to facilitate non-hostile interactions until such time that encounter is finished. Unit members interfering with IO017-related affairs are to be immediately arrested, and reprimanded by UAN Command.

IO017 is a sapient bipedal reptillian species residing in areas near shores and river banks on the Konastoga continent on WD 4576 e, henceforth designated "Sarvensgal".
Individuals are territorial even if within tribal borders. Individual IO017 are capable of vocalized speech and communication.
Individuals have a gold-yellow underside and are covered in green-gold scales with a dark turquoise tint. The head of each IO017 individual is lined with a varying* pair of frills alongside 4 pairs of scales on the neck. An average height of 7.1 ft. for males and 6.7 ft. for females was observed and average body weight is 127 lbs. Tail length for both sexes is 6.3 ft. long. Hearing range for individual IO017 is within 31 Hz to 12 kHz.
IO017 individuals feed on a variety of mammalian prey organisms, and several individuals were observed to consume PS078 berries.
IO017 reproduction is viviparous, with a gestation period of 5-7 weeks and laying of 4-7 juvenile instances of IO017.

society and culture
Tribes of IO017 have a variety of cultures with concepts related to individual strength and familial ties. Information about cultures deducted from long-to-close ranged observations and interviews with Expeditionary Units. Anthropological, historical, and archeological observations suggest that present IO017 individuals and tribes were descended from a much larger civilization or group of civilizations roughly 1,700 years before IO119* and IO081* resided on Konastoga.
One noteworthy custom prevelant in all tribes relate to individual and/or group territory with each observed IO017 individual or group having a dictated border even if within a tribe's territory. Territorial encroachment is welcomed as long as requirements, if any, are met but fighting will ensue should provocation occur.

ADDENDUM IO017-1A
When interviewed on why they were eating PS078 berries and, most alarmingly, freshly killed IO119 individuals. Individuals claimed that PS078 had herbal properties that could hasten healing and soothe bodily discomfort. As for munching on dead IO119, it was stated to be out of spite against abuses and discrimination perpetuated by the Kananghari Kingdom*.
