Despondent, lonely and spiderweb covered, Sierra #3's smokebox cover sits askew and disconnected from its body in 2005. One of the oldest 'operable' Rogers Locomotive at the time, it has a boiler that is just too thin and it can't be repaired.
The solution was to build a new modern boiler for her. This entire process was complete in 2010.

There was a jumble of parts in the general area, clearly from a myriad of mechanical devices. A wrist pin sits right next to the connecting rod and behind it, you can see one end of a crankshaft, of which had a patina and texture that indicated it had been placed and left there quite some time ago.
It's my understanding it's due for completion in 2010, we shall see though. #3 been apart of almost a decade now and to say the Sierra Railway shop isn't very organized it putting it kindly. I could have walked away with trinkets of #3 if I'd had a mind to they as they were scattered all around.
