Why Afton went back to destroy the animatronics, prior to FNAF 3. Clearly, he didn't expect the spirits of the children to be released when he did it, or he wouldn't have reacted as he did. It seems highly irregular for him to dismantle them for no reason. Unless they hold some key evidence proving his guilt, which I am banking on.
No, I haven't read them, but I know the overall plots they contain. I also know that Scott said not to rely on them for answers, as their place in canon is questionable at times.
