I understand the feeling completely. I don't know why people think people would love to start a conversation from simply saying "hi" or "hey" at times. Then they will get angry if you don't respond and decide to spam for attention. It just feels awkward and I usually hope they get he message XD..

Normally I don't mind people messaging me unless they have something interesting to me to talk about.
However small talk is a 0 go for me.

Thats usually how it leads for me. Usually I try typing a sentence or two message with a topic along with a greeting. Not just a greeting. Otherwise a conversation gets so awkward to the point you have no strength to pull the conversation along so your option is responding much slower or not at all cause you'd simply will feel bored of the conversation.

What I get is usually them starting to "roleplay" with me or something :/ which just seems off and its a major turn off to even chat with one another.
