You know what always rattled peoples bones back in SWRP 2012? Furry Mandalorians... It didn't matter if they were genuine Amaran, Shistavanen, Nelvaniaan... There were always those that thought that being a Mandalorian required you to be part of an elitist personality cult, one that was pretty anti-fur.
Fortunately in those latter years, as more competent roleplayers arose in the ranks and took on the guise of some of the official Star Wars races mentioned above, this cult's influence diminished, or rather, changed their world view to accommodate them.
I was glad to be a part of such a movement, to show those people in the Second Life SWRP Community that just because the avatar appeared furry, didn't necessarily mean it had all the stigma of one, and glad to really shove it to those people that used other parts of the SWRP Community for their own personal power fantasies. (Like Blade Reluin's personal empire back then)
The character on the left is mine; Zara Tua'eani, an Amaran of Yuuzhan Vong Familiar origin from the (now redundant) Post-Legacy Era. He was Alor'ad of the Clan Kata, and will forever be a part of it's family.
To his right, is wolvenrage's character (whose name I have forgotten now x_x).
Sadly, not featured in this picture, is Vhe'tra (Played by Doran Skytower), a blood brother to Zara, who brought him into Kata's fold, and the stories they made as they created mischief across the known SWRP Community of Second Life resonate through time itself, and then some when he began taking our characters through various SWRP Forums.

Damn Matty heh thats a really long time ago i was a amaran sith lord in SWRP im sure we even briefly met on one of the sims had my run ins with some of the furry mandalorians i was in The Datk Lords Of Sith order if i remember correctly some of ya even even kept those annoying jedi off my back to have some drinks in the bar in quiet....*sighs* good ol times....
Oh the days of elitist communities that were so certain of their opinions.. I feel your pains lad, but it's nice to see it's at least changed for the better ever since the only group I knew of that advocated for Amarans is pretty much gone now, that being Starwind (take that as you will).
I never really get onto SL much as I used to what-with my only source of entertainment being pretty much dead in the water, and lately LME being a boring place now, so I've no idea where all that stuff happens nowadays, would probably come and see sometime if you get a chance to reply to this if it's not too much trouble. xP

I too had the (mis)fortune of being a part of the Starwind Clan back in 2009, while I can say it's come a long way from its humble beginnings on Little Mos Eisley (LME); it was always made redundant by one thing; the inability to adapt to the large SWRP Community. When Agir (the founding father and Dunn of the time) stepped down, the group went into something of a death spiral and sought activity outside of LME before falling into obscurity. After those core people left (Kaz, Agir, Tyro) it just wasn't the same anymore.
It was around that time I stepped away from the shadow of Starwind and pursued Mandalorian Clan Kata, for better or for worse, it was one of the more controversial Mandalorian Clans of its time. I stuck with Kata for a long time, enough to see the rise and fall of at least ~5 Mand'alors. Two of which I considered friends.
Second Life has been, something of a bittersweet relationship for me, it's given me some of the best social occasions of my life, and some of the worst.

Eh, that's where you and I differ it seems, I didn't cross paths with Starwind till about 2014-ish, when Gryff was in-charge but couple days in I could already see the drama fuming out the vents on a couple occasions, they went as far as creating their own sim with the Amaran homeplanet theme, a couple months in, they dispersed completely and Starwind was disbanded somewhere in 2015.
That reminds me, a friend of mine who I was with upon discovering Starwind decided to play a practical joke on them for being way too serious for her, she went through the trouble of making a sign that said "Keep calm and just dance" with a stormtrooper off to the side, stuck it on their front door, and started dancing in front of it and took snapshots... Suffice to say they were -not- amused and pretty much got her banned from the sim for it.
I see the importance of mandalorians on the otherhand, often enough to say that several species have the potential of becoming them (Selonians for example, which most elitists will pretend don't exist). Though, I'm more of an observer than a direct Roleplayer, it's difficult for me to get into a setting when you lack the proper gear if you get my meaning lol.
