Warm Up: Sprink
She's the hero we deserve.
She kind of popped out of nowhere, but I like her. I'll probably keep her around. Brownies are fun little faeries.
Now on to commissions.
Brownie Society/Culture/Biology Abridged:
Brownies fall into the helpful, if a little mischievous, category of the Seelie Court known as house fae. They are skilled with any number of domestic talents, from mending clothes, to fixing leaky pipes, to helping gardens grow. They also are careful to remove any creatures that humans deem as pests before any harm can come to them. As long as they feel appreciated and are given gifts of porridge sweetened with honey and cream, they will continue to work silently during the night. If they feel misused they will leave (and sometimes complicate life for the offending humans as long as they deem necessary). Some older and more traditional brownies will also leave if the humans they look after refer to the typical gifts as "payment".
Brownies are very social creatures and often form close relationships with other fae and most animals. They deeply value family ties, as well. If they do not dwell in their family's burrow or faerie mound somewhere in the northern portion of Great Britain, they will live in the abandoned spaces of the human household that they care for. It is common practice for generations of one brownie family to care for generations of a human family that they have grown fond of. They will also only serve one family at a time with the utmost loyalty.
If a brownie is not engaged in caring for a family, they can often be found acting as steward for small parcels of wildland or tending to the needs of the High Seelie Court. Although they are known to be mischievous, Unseelie brownies are exceedingly rare. Their innate moral compass is by and large too strong for them to ignore.
Brownie pelts range from deep mossy greens, to browns and tans, to cream colors. Markings apart from their ear tufts, fringe fur, and tail tufts are almost nonexistent. They do not grow any larger than three feet tall, but their body types vary widely. The only signs of a brownie aging are patches of white fur that develop around the nose and mouth and in the ear tufts, fringe, and tail tuft. Brownies live between 300 and 400 years on average.
I will probably add more as I come up with it. ^w^
