I always thought that the Tau had more appeal. I just played against them recently, and my first time since the new codex... quite a while... since I played tau. they were tough.

They're a lethal force when played properly I need to post some updated pics of my force soon...

Heeh. But can he defeat Helios the Sunborn? (sadly you don't get much customization with Necrons, but I went Gaze of Flame, Res Orb, Phase Shifter, Scythe to stay in character with my army's sun theme ;) )

yeah probably not at all but that's why he has an army of eldar fury to back him up.

I miss playing table top games, though I admit, I've been way more into the dragon-worshipping Cryx and Legion from Warmachine/Hordes than 40k lately. Though I might do a bit more once the 'crons get a new codex.

Ld 10 for the Lord vs Ld 6 or 7 for the Farseer (depending if he's in Gaze range), plus the Phase Shifter, makes Mind War pretty unreliable vs 'crons if they field Pariahs, which is sorta the rising sun theme for my army ;)

Hmm... good point!

Fortunately, for all the special rules they have, 'crons really suck against anything other than things their rules explicitly counter (Seer Council, Bright Lances, etc), and drawn-out mid-range shooting fights (which never really happen). Their special rules make a LOT of eldar units useless against them, but they have virtually zero defense against a simple Howling Banshee squad, and they have no reliable way to kill fast, long-ranged vehicles (AKA falcons). As long as the Banshees don't get left out in the open to get shot up and the Falcons don't sit 12" away from the 'crons, you can kill an entire necron army with just that.

Heh- Thanks for that advice, now I can tailor a force against my friend who fell into the 'buy necrons, krylon them black, and drybrush' mentality. :P

Very nice! I love the style, although I think the limbs and head could do with being more slender. That is, after all, what makes eldar so strikingly different anatomically from humans.
