elkcip145 was telling me about the Stalker he hatched in Subnautica and the mischief it was getting up to. Stealing his camera drones, harassing his seamoth and prawn suit, and reportedly glitching into his base and terrifying the fish in his aquarium. He called it a lil' menace, and that ended up becoming its name :3I drew this up later that day, was some nice stress relief~ Though I really do need to finish a few works I have lying around aaaaaa

Ya know, I think there's something wonky with the hatching system. See, a long while back if you hatched a monster and released it, the creature would immediately revert to full size and then attack you. Some time later part of that was fixed. Hatched monsters would retain their "juvenile" size but they'd still revert to their standard AI - which typically meant them being hostile to you.
I brought this up in the forums, and received a number of conflicting responses on it - some people said it was a bug, they were supposed to remain passive. Others said that's intentional. Some had Stalkers/Bonesharks/whatever be passive one day and hostile the next, or were always passive but then another they hatched later was hostile, or they'd be hostile to each other but not to you, etc.
Lately though, it seems like they remain passive to you, but not to other creatures. Usually. I'm still not sure just how all this is supposed to work, since sometimes they're passive sometimes they're not. People still can't really seem to agree if this is intended behavior (hatched monsters being aggressive) or if it's a bug (They're supposed to be passive) :/
What I'd really like to see is that monsters you hatch will always be passive towards you and each other, but will still eat prey-fish that wander nearby and attack any native hostile fauna that approach - they're defending you and their home afterall. I'd also really like to see you being able to interact with them in some way, but I feel that'd be something left to some future DLC than anything.
