Upon reaching the village marked as "River Rock" on my map just before sundown I saw that I was not the only traveler to happen upon the settlement. Several orcs had taken to raiding the village and were in the process of killing all the livestock they weren't able to take for themselves when I happened upon them. Thankfully there were only two of them and when one of the farmhands introduced one of the raiders to a pitchfork I was able to dispatch one, then help him with the other.

It soon became apparent that there were other members of the raiding party who had hit other locations around the village, all of whom had either been slain or retreated back across the river and into Owlwood Forest. While helping the villagers right their homes again I was approached by the village elder who had contacted some other passers by who had pitched in to aid them in defending the place. They said that the orcs had slain the guards who tended the bridge across the river and they feared that other raiding parties would be emboldened by this maneuver. Myself, a dwarven wizard named Copperspout Longbeard, a gnomish cleric of Obad-Hai who goes by the name of Yurl and a halfling named Nalo Freerunner who has the trappings of a fighter about him but i have my suspissions of his involvement in some shady dealings.

We depart for Owlwood in search of what remains of that group of orc raiders in the morning. With luck we will find them drunk on pilfered ale and make short work of them so that the people of River Rock will have some measure of security again.
