I did say I was going to upload a submission tonight.
This is not that submission. THAT submission is still being worked on, but will be uploaded tonight.
Regardless, I wanted to upload this while I waited.
Today not only marks the end of the 2017 year, but it both marks the anniversary of the day I first got my dog, as well as his birthday!
Supposedly. The humane society doesn't really tell you a lot, at least not the local one here.
Anyway, he's now 2 years old! ...Supposedly.
And I've had him now for a whole year!
I decided a while ago that for his birthday, I would make him a pie.
It's dog safe, don't worry. At least according to the information I've been seeing for months now.
It's a pumpkin pie with sweet potato in it. The white topping you see is vanilla Greek yogurt.
I took a can of 100% pumpkin, and followed most of the directions for a pumpkin pie.
I used 2 eggs, and a half can of water instead of milk. I didn't have milk, but maybe that was for the best?
I hear that a lot of animals are lactose intolerant anyway.
I skipped the other spices like nutmeg and salt, but I did use cinnamon. I think I used too much though.
I also used honey. After I put the water in, I wasn't sure if the mixture would hold, so I figured I'd add it in.
I was thinking that it could be kind of like a binder agent. Sweets aren't very good for dogs, but honey does have antibacterial properties. Or something like that.
I also took 2 skinned sweet potatoes, diced one and sliced the other, then boiled them to make them soft.
The diced one was mashed and layered on the crust (it was originally just going to be in the filling as is).
I took the sliced one and topped the pie. I realized I used too much sweet potato, and so the sliced one was going to be for me.
But I just used it as a unique topping. CERTAINLY NOT the almonds that were suggested as a topping.
I baked at 425oF for about 45 minutes. Afterwards, I took a ...carton? package? of Greek yogurt, and spread it on top.
There's a lot more yogurt than I thought in those little cups. Yogurt, from what I understand, it dog safe and somewhat good for them.
My apologies for the bad presentation. I tried to make it look nice.
I have looked up most of the ingredients. To my knowledge, this is alright for dogs. Though the crust itself isn't so good since it's made with wheat.
He seemed to really like it! Shortly afterwards, he was so sleepy that he just puffed out on the pillow, lol.
I've always wanted a dog, but the kind of dog I wanted was a golden retriever. Or husky, or afghan hound, or a select few others.
But my dog here is just fine.
Last year around this time, I was in a position where I could finally get a dog, so I took that opportunity, though I was VERY close to not being able to get him.
Literally minutes away from being too late...
But I did get him, and I am glad I did.
Though another reason I got him was to show many other people that are so very against me for some reason that I'm not a horrible person.
That I do care about others and that I'm not some selfish bully. I honestly don't know where these names come from.
I figured that if I could get a dog and take care of them, it would prove my point.
...But it doesn't matter. It never did. The people who say things like that, do things like that, etc., they don't care.
It's entertainment to them. It's funny and empowering to them. They run in, say whatever they can in a short amount of time, then run away.
None of them take what I say or do seriously. and most of them think they are completely invincible.
I want to say that they don't seem to understand how devastating their actions and words are to me (and others), but they do understand.
Many of them explicitly set you / me up just to fall in situations like that. The most devastating of all is that many of these people are... were close friends and acquaintances.
I've spent SO much time and even money trying to show them I'm not a monster, but it doesn't matter.
They will believe what they want to, and do all they can to find negativity anywhere, even in a smile.
I have a beautiful friend to take care of now. I don't think I want to spent any more time or money on people like that anymore.
*hugs my [sleeping] dog*
Love you honey bun!

Heh, I think it was how he was sleeping on the pillow.
It was just so cute that I had to take the picture.
I just wish I could do more for him. It seems all I do is kinda bore him immensely and he has no choice but to sleep his life away.
It's horrible. But I'll do what I can when I can so he won't always be so bored.
At the very least, I do really hope he liked his pie. I didn't give it all to him at once of course, just a slice or two.

We play a bit, but only for just a little while.
I don't walk him as much since we moved and since it started snowing lately.
There aren't a lot of safe areas to walk around here.
I do take him and we run to the nearby gas station and back sometimes, but I gotta wait until the snow on the ground clears.
And this cold I was given clears.
