Unlike the other pics of Ryuu, this one is more linked towards his backstory as the son of the last Ice Ronin. There are still lots of grounds to cover, but I'd like to elaborate more on this :P

As for Ryuu's backstory (or his lore as I'd prefer to call it), apart from the main universe which he is in right now, our dragon actually hailed from a distant world.
Much like the main universe, the inhabitants of this world were comprised of a handful of anthropomorphic species, but their population have dwindled throughout the years, leaving the Dragons as the dominating race.
The civilizations appeared to bear great similarity to that of feudal Japan. And in charge of the populace were the Elemental Clans with their respective clan-masters (or Ronins - for apparently there used to be a kingdom and its own Shogun but had been overthrown at some point by a certain group of daring Ronins, who'd later abolish the whole classification system so instead anyone capable of fighting would be referred to by the general term Senshi; ever since, "Ronin" is only used among a fraction of the local populace to honor the Clan-masters' deeds and their masterless origin despite the title used to be frowned upon). The most influential one among them was the Ice clan, and Ryuu's father, Yasuno Yukiyama, was its rightful leader.
This probably should explain Ryuu's aforementioned title above :P

I admit I'm no expert on the Japanese culture or history, this is merely built based on what I know so far.
So please be tolerant... ^^;
Anyways...

The world itself was constantly under attack from a mysterious demonic alien race plotting to enslave everyone. I won't go into too much details about this alien race, but they had their own tactics as their true number was very small, yet they command a huge army raised from the corpses of the fallen warriors. Not many knew about this, and as soon as Yasuno learned about this, he, along with his spouse Izumi and the whole Yukiyama family, conducted a dangerous ritual at an exposed temple in attempt to send the young Ryuu to a different world, for our dragon was told to be the only hope of their species. They simply had to exile Ryuu to another world for his own safety. As anticipated, the ritual drew the aliens' attention towards them and they were soon under attack. Withstanding the attack bravely, they repelled the attack and completed the ritual at the cost of Yasuno and Izumi's lives, as well as most of Ryuu's memory of their world at the time.

During his time in the main world Ryuu was found and adopted by an Aspect (a royal draconian Lord in the main universe), who raised and trained him into the powerful mage he is today.
It was not until the Modern times in the main universe that Ryuu learned about his origin and traced a possible link to his homeworld through certain magical cracks in the world he was in. Determined, he traveled back there with his companion (another OC of mine :P) and through numerous events he finally picked up where his father left off. With the knowledge about the aliens' weakness, they soon purged the land of the alien forces, effectively putting an end to the endless war.

While Ryuu's origin laid here, he still decided to return as he felt he belonged to the other world.
So in this pic we have Ryuu in his family's traditional outfit along with the family's katana to honor his origin as well as honing his newly acquired swordplay techniques.

Wow... I think I went a little bit overboard.. D:
Even though there were a lot of details I didn't mention for the sake of simplicity.
Perhaps one day I will finally finish developing his lore, as well as put out some writing about it while I'm at it. xD
