A beautiful piece that spans the times and era. In the fantasy world that is steampunk, such a song would have been unheard of... Still her fingers moved, with closed eyes she felt him that much closer to her...
I went through hundreds of references and many trials of design. Still, I don't think I've captured the full capability of it. So I will press on. I tried doing it in full color, but I couldn't seem to get it right. Either way, enjoy.

Such great work you have here, dramatic, but not overly so. The use of lighting is.. well, amazing. The piece caught my eye is it's thumbnail, but to see it makes it all the much better.
Also: I think you captured the "spirit" of the music in your art very well. easily a favorite, both the music and your art.

wow.... I adore steampunk era styled art and items.... I just wish i still had a forge ot make stuff with.... shame really i think i have probably lost most of the knowledge i had o so many years ago.....
The corset is really elegant and fits her form so well its almost breathtaking.
Lighting from the window almost reminds me of the view i had from my room in the farmhouse i lived in when i was a child. Early sunrise mornings were awesome to view through the trees and hills.
Just a side thought..... is this pose/thought from life or just your I-Magic?
and can you actually play the piano?

I have always been good with my hands.... even after i lost the tops to my knuckles in a car accident..... I am dextrous to a point and then i think I am over careful about my movements......
I think if given the chance I would start forging again or even re-start making silver jewellery.
OH!!!! I just noticed her eye...... is it me or is she staring at the watcher from the corner of her eye with a slight look of pride or disgust at being watched?

Damn... looked at this and looked at my stuff. Depressing.
Anyways, I wanted to mention that Spear isn't using the same perspective as everything else in the scene and there's a bit of a visual struggle going on, pulling her into the background and flattening the image. You'll want to watch out for that kind of thing as you work.

Wow O_O you may not think its perfect...but damn if it ain't awesome and pretty and all those words.I can just see the outside of the window....small green gardens pushing outto a city....zepplins in the air and other steampunk tech slying about...maybe a train gliding over a lake in the right corner.
*ponders a bit* intregueing that you took the approach that details a faded old time photograph with this picture. I find it amuseing that it's all done in a muted sepia color, as if for some reason your looking back on your past and wishing that it was here in the present.
eh, maybe I'm just reading into it too much. who knnows. all I have to say is that it's a wonderful piece of work. I honestly would love to see you draw more of this geanre in the future. if you want, I could even help you out with finding refrence materials for clockwork components and the like. if you wish to take me up on that offer, please note me. I'd be more then happy to assist you.

I'm not real knowledgeable when it comes to the steampunk thing. But I know what I like, and the Victorian style of dress has an air of sexiness to it. I love seeing women wear corsets and bustiers.
I actually like the lighting, and to be honest, I think color might have taken away from the drawing. There are flaws, sure, but the power of the piece is what gets my attention. A beautiful woman in a beautiful dress playing a compostion on the piano. Can't help to wonder what she is playing. (Even a city boy like myself can appreciate classical music like Mozart)
I always love you work, Spearfrost. You'll get no complaints from me.

I really like what you aimed for with the light source. That nice large window is eyecatchingly elaborate rather than being plain and a waste of space. The only thing I can think of though is that the bars and their leafing detail should be casting some kind of shadow themselves since they'd be blocking the light. A shame you didnt fully colour this, really. The composition is perfect.
Regarding elfslut's comment about the pedals, since her fingers dont actually seem to be pressing any keys in I assumed that she had just sat down and was composing herself for her 'performance'.
Spear definitely suits this style. I'd like to see her in other time period clothing just out of interest. I think it makes a nice contrast with her as a character... the 'restrained' old style of clothing is definitely quite different to her unleashed personality and of course the blue hair would rather stand out against the muted colours.

I'm sorry i haven't been on much and going through all my backlog...i was floored. Simply floored. This is heartbreakingly beautiful. I loved the movie "The Piano" and as a pianist myself, i love whenever one is featured but to do steampunk, piano, and spear herself all together
As to the pedal issue, don't worry about that. I know it uses the pedal in the music but actually, you don't always need the pedals for the sound, especially if its out of tune badly like mine. T_T tis expensive to tune a piano.

Ooohh I know it can be expensive. I did learn to play the piano... A LONG TIME AGO... XD
Though... I would love to relearn it someday. ^^ So glad you like.
Truth is... I didn't even finish the details of the piano itself. So it's actually incomplete than everyone sees. XP.
I do plan to fully color it and tweak the details more.... >.> But that would be WAY later.
