Active bus stop in the middle of nowhere. Well, "active" is relative... the bus stops exactly 2 times a day, only on work days. It serves a small settlement with 10-20 citizens next to an abandoned brick factory.
During the construction of a nearby railway line, huge amounts of clay were discovered, which made the region the leading european brickstone producer in the 1910s and 20s. Dozens of factories were opened, with awful living conditions for the workers.
The last factories were closed in the early 1990s, leaving a devastated landscape full of clay lakes and brickwork ruins. Most of the former workers moved away from this rural spot, but some people stayed there - connected by the old bus line from better days.

I think you can see the faint outline of something or other that was in front of the shelter, suggesting another structure was there at some point.
Industrial archaeology is a thing in the UK and the US, as well as the "ruin porn," with folks shooting lovingly framed pictures of dead and decaying shopping centers, factories, and the like.

I like the grey clouds and the power tower... they complete the picture.
One bright side, perhaps, is that the clay pits should be relatively benign. I don't think most clays contain much in the way of toxic materials...? I will have to ask my geology consultant. Many industries leave behind far worse than those pits :/

Clay is non-toxic. The lakes are now a paradise for fishing.

Coulda been the busstop at the upper entrance to my "Village". Funny enough, this one is actually close to a handcraftsmanship educational center and a commercial district. But no one seems to care more about it than to keeping it from falling down. Then again, isn't that what industry and is about?
