I've been looking at this for quite a while now, just trying to make sense of the many emotions it's comprised of. The piece is so dreadful and mysterious and even has a bit of a Lovecraftian feel to it. There's an ominous look of prestige and eldritch power in the creature's eyes, and yet the bowed heads and hanging mane portray a peaceful sense of sorrow. Like an old friend; a safekeeper, waiting for you at the end of it all. The perfect portrayal of an angel of death. Amazing piece!
