Before the end of last year I saw a pic of an Ampharos that I really liked - it gave the species a defined chest and longer arms, a style which I really wanted to replicate in my drawing.
I don't remember where I saw it, but i made sure to save a copy for reference. Ultimately, I think I managed to use it effectively to draw up an updated version of my Ampharos character Dahlia. It makes her look less like a ball with a neck and little flipper arms and more of a defined creature. On top of the slightly adjusted anatomy I've also included a few other character updates - she has an armband now, which she uses to portray her rescue badge, her bandanna is a darker shade of red to better distinguish it from her gemstones and also bolsters a slightly different star pattern, and the biggest change of all: HER EYES ARE GREEN. I actually described them as green in one of my Light From the Umbra chapters, but failed to remember to draw them as such in previous pics depicting her until now.
I like the end result, and hope you all do too

Considering the Pokémon in question, I have to wonder what flavor of annoyance decided to visit her this time. She looks about ready to punch someone. So... nothing new.
She looks nice, though. The combination of bandanna plus badge strapped to an arm band makes her look like some sort of no-nonsense guerrilla fighter. I think that's cool. And that's a beautiful watermark there in the corner.

Who knows? A temper like hers is a bomb with a short fuse.

And hey! Im glad someone noticed the watermark. I made a comment about it on the other pic I posted and forgot to mention anything here, but I wanted to start the year with something a little more fancy than the "Gray '17" i stuck to last year.
