Patreon 2017 artwork for Ayden Melhop.
Thankyou for supporting me (and being patient with me) for as long as you did, and I hope 2018 brings you many wonderful opportunities and experiences~

Originally, this piece was going to remain a sketch.
I'd been in a rut with my art for over a month Nov-Dec last year, and decided to take a break from my computer and just sit down with my sketchbook for the first time in forever and see what happens without putting pressure on myself to create anything worthwhile.
The original sketch was ugly and rough as hell, but I stuck with it and fleshed it out a little more, making the features more refined as I went (as it so happens, blocking in the black areas was very cathartic for me, haha), while also trying to maintain my usual style with my digital art. I ended up very happy with the sketch and let it be.
Fast forward to now, after being somewhat forced to create traditional art for my Secret Santas instead of my usual digital art, and I've finally given in to the nagging in the back of my head telling me to "finish" the sketch.
So I pulled out my Fineliners and Sharpies (plus some White-Out for the shines) and sat down for a few sweaty hours with some music playing, and here's the finished result~!
Obviously there are spots I'm not happy with (like the overlapping lmao A+ planning go me), but overally I'm really glad I decided to go back and "finish" it, and my sketchbook feels more alive for it, too~!
Beware! You might just be seeing more traditional art from me in the future! :-O
