This one I did for practice, and to simply have fun. The premise was to draw a fairly simple, emotional picture with thick lines, ideal for scanning, so that I could make it stand out through shading and work on my lighting concepts. I'd call it a success :3
This draconic boy is standing in the hallway outside his room, which provided the only litle source of light during the darkness of night. Sobbing, he stands with his plush friend to his face, wiping his right eye and keeping the soft creature close. He is by no means a small child any longer, but a particular accident left him standing alone, seeking comfort as he was. Even for his age, he once again wet the bed. Almost ten years old, the lad had been scolded already about his pre-bed bathroom habits, and delt with the embarassment of bed wetting already. Crying, and keeping his toy as am emotional supporting pal, he had to muster the courage to open the door to his parents bedroom, and tell them of his accident. Aside from shame of wetting the bed at his age, his mother long ago had warned him he would be punished if he didn't get his 'problem' under control. Surely this time, he would be spanked! Or grounded, or.. put in a diaper. His mind mulled over many things he could be punished with, which needed more nuzzles to his fuzzy, soft plush pal. Needing to have his bed cleaned up, as well as himself, he would just have to walk in there and see what happens. Unsure of the sympathy his parents would provide, he treated the toy like an only friend, quietly seeking comfort and protection from it.
Even big boys could cry.

I was planning on doing another picture with him, and had even started it. However, that picture did not turn out, and I never returned to the original idea. Especially back then, my artwork was extremely hit-or-miss.
Though, I can at least say that I've been working on that little issue. With my more recent bumps in quality, I decided that I would keep working on my anatomy, dynamic poses, and overall style, so I can be more consistant and be able to put out more material. Trying more two-character drawings too, to work on interaction. Been rough, but I finally have some tangible stuff sitting on my desk. Two half-finished drawings, and one looks awesome so far. :3 I want to finish them both, and color em' up. Might be another day or two, but I'll have stuff up - at least on IB!
