In 1990 Booster Gold left the Justice League International to form his own team, the corporately sponsored Conglomerate. This may sound silly, but it was handled very well, and a huge moment of character development in a usually silly series.
This was done a few years ago, but it means a lot to me because it represents a time when I was much closer to the person who did the pencil work for this. She was a huge fan of this character and this period in his story, so I wanted to do something special with this for her.
The character was sketched by the above mentioned friend and coloured by me, the logo was built in Photoshop from a comic scan, and the typeface was made by me based on the logo. Booster Gold and the Conglomerate are the property of DC comics.

Heh, actually once I track down the disk I dumped these on to I'll probably upload all sorts of crazy characters. An old friend of mine used to do requests for these (and I'd colour them) so she got all kinds of weird stuff done.
This was one of the last ones I did, so it was one I was happier with, I'd probably have to redo the colouring on older stuff.
(Dan Garrett is way awesome though)

I have played with these in vectors, (and very briefly played with animating them in flash) but the way I used to do these relied pretty heavily on simulated pen pressure, which I couldn't for the life of me find in any other software anywhere, as everything else seems to expect me to actually use a tablet like some kind of real artist. I probably will try some of these in Illustrator using the inking process I use now though.
In retrospect, I probably could have faked it in Illustrator and not had huge death files. Live and learn I suppose!

What doesn't kill us makes us stronger (or weakens us for the final death blow)
You mentioned you use paths in PS, for filling or creating lines? (or both?) Because there's a pen tool in flash that could probably give you the same lines as you used in this. (I'm kind of jealous of people who can use the pen tool, because they get away with tweening so much easier than animationfags like me)

I use the pen tool for anything I can get away with using the pen tool for! I can't draw, and I do everything by mouse, so having something I can adjust easily like that is great for me. I'm so used to the one in Photoshop though that sometimes the more powerful ones get me all confused. Using Illustrator is a pain sometimes because it's trying to do all sorts of fancy things that Photoshop doesn't and I'm not used to working with. I haven't used it a lot in Flash, but I'll probably take a look at it once I get my desktop system working.
