O' traveler wandering distant paths
Between the mountains and the skies,
There are many things you must beware
If you journey out where danger lies.
Beware the Munksters in the Musk
Beware the Hyper Viperathon;
But most of all you must beware
The Red Unicorn of Calmadon.
Trust not your faithful steed
To help you escape her wrath,
Trust not no charms of luck
Should you cross her path.
She keeps the roads that lie between
the sunset and the night.
So be wary if you journey there,
if you see her best take flight.
So beware gentle maidens,
Beware knights, anon;
She comes toward you down the path
The Red Unicorn of Calmadon.
The traditional image of the unicorn, the sleek, white, gentle being of fairy tales and folk songs, is hardly representative of unicorns as a whole. In general they are quite the opposite: being large animals with extraordinarily sharp horns they have a tendency to be irritable, unpredictable and dangerous. This personality, however, is not as well suited to their romantic appearance, and only one unicorn has managed to carve herself a reputation contrary to the popular belief. She is the Red Unicorn of Calmadon, and has been known to haunt the Calmadonian Mountains, tormenting travelers and chasing wolves down into the valleys to prey on the sheep. So infamous has she become she is now honored with a folk song all her own, but whether this will placate or encourage her has yet to be determined.
Prismacolor pencils on 9"x12" illustration paper. Art and poetry/prose is, unfortunately, all of my own doing.
Enjoy.

Your way of handling the colours is amazing! All the colours work really well together, they're harmonious and they don't argue with each other. The orange light gives nice and warm feeling to the otherwise cold rocky path. The unicorn's playful face is her best feature! Those eyes give very nice impression of her, how deceptive! :D The only thing that this picture is lacking, is the unicorn's own shadow - I might be wrong though. The big rock on the right might cover the unicorn's shadow, but I still think that there could be another shadow. :P
Beautiful work again! :D
