Hello everyone...this is a little personal project I am working on. For many of you who know me, you know how much TLK means to me and that its my FAVORITE movie ever. Too long have I been without my own TLK chars, mainly because well...there are millions already, so i didn't give myself the chance to make one. A friend of mine pointed this out to me that it was strange that I didn't have one. So, that ends now! Meet Dhoruba and Kamba..my two TLK OC's. This is part of their origin story and an introduction to who they are. Now, this story does contain a bit of violence, drama and some heavy stuff. (no sex) In this universe/setting. Dhoruba and Kamba are lions in the grand Colosseum, and fight for the amusement of the crowd.
Dhoruba is a stormy gray colored lion with a partially braided mane (think like a vikings beard)
with some pieces of custom roman armor on his paws and tail.
Kamba is a tawny colored lioness with half of her tail missing. Instead she has a weighted heavy leather club strapped to the end of it. I could give it all away, but you will just have to read it.
My marvelous girlfriend
is helping these two come to life!

“Damnit Dhoruba! I can’t keep running like this!” Kamba called out, wheezing after every word. The large charcoal/storm gray lion glanced back to his tawny colored sister running right behind him. He let out a somewhat worried growl before calling back to her.
“Okay…I’m slowing down, hear my pace sister.” He began to slow his gait until he came to a stop. His once glorious fur and mane were covered with dirt, leaves, and heavily matted. Dhoruba was a powerfully built lion with eyes as soft as a summer rain. His coat was a gloomy gray, resembling a sky full of storm clouds. “I am sorry dearest sister, I did not mean to push you so ha…” His words cut up by a paw to his lips.
“Please, don’t apologize to me Dhoruba. If this situation were reversed, I would be doing the same. I do think we are somewhat safe though, at least for the time being.” She let out a heavy breath before flopping onto her stomach. Dhoruba let out a sigh before walking over to her, gently licking across her face. “Thank you, my dear brother. I know that no matter where we are, you will keep me safe.” She glanced around for a few moments, ears twitching as she listened to the night. Dhoruba curled around her and gently nuzzled the piece of cloth around her eyes.
“How do they feel?” he inquired, the memory of her injury still fresh in his mind.

Kamba stalked through the tall grass that the servants had put up in the Colosseum. Her piercing amber eyes locked on the small group of Gladiators huddling together. As she jumped from one bush to another, she let out a quiet snarl, making it just loud enough for one of them to hear. To her fortune, one of the men turned and raised his spear.
“She is over here!” he shouted as he began to walk towards where the snarl came from. The shouts of the rest of the men filled the air, begging him to return to the clearing. “I can do this my friends, she is just a lioness!” shouted the gladiator. From high up in the arena, the voice of the announcer rang out.
“Ooooooh! Loooooook at this ladies and gentlemen! One of the fighters has decided to break off and fight the elusive huntress!”
From where she watched, hidden in the grass, she could see the majority of the crowd standing up in anticipation. A grin slowly crept along her face as the soldier moved closer into position. She took a deep breath and lowered her maw to the ground, cupping one side of it with her paw. She let out a load snarl combined with a hiss that traveled along the ground to the mans left.
“AHAH!” proclaimed the fighter as he quickly jammed his spear, right into the log hidden in the tall grass. A satisfying *chnk* echoed through the arena. Just as the man was about to celebrate, Kamba leapt from the mans right and speared him into the grass. Treating him like any large pray, she wrapped his mouth around his neck and twisted swiftly. He fell to the ground silently before being able to utter a single scream.
“It seeeeeems that the huntress has gotten another one! Bjorn…she has earned another tic next to her name!” called the announcer from the stands. Back behind one of the closed gates, stood a massive mountain of a man. Black braided hair, covered in scars, and with a hidden look of pride on his face. He pulled out his norse dagger and dragged it down the wall in front of the lioness’s name…Kamba. He turned back to the fight as he crossed his arms.
“She is doing well my friend; your sister lives up to the old man’s promise” chuckled the Norse gentleman before glancing down to Dhoruba. “She is a testament to your species!” he laughed before giving the large lion a few heavy pats with his hand. “Even without the majority of her tail, she can move swiftly, quietly and maintain her balance.” He commented smugly. The crowd gasped out as two more of the men were yanked down into the tall grass. One of them fell instantly silent, while the other let out half a scream before a loud *WHUMP* echoed through the arena. “She only has one left, I have never seen any lioness get this far, you should be proud of her.” Bjorn grunted while turning back to the spectacle. Dhoruba turned his head towards the arena as well, watching to see his sisters final kill.
“OOOOOOONLY ONE REMAINS! Can she do it folks? Can she succeed where NO. OTHER. LIONESS. HAS!” cried out the announcer, getting the crowd completely riled up. Kamba rolled her shoulder and glanced back to the heavy weighted ‘club’ that fit over the half a tail she had. The lioness smirked and gave it a flick to clean the blood from it. Once she was ready, the lioness took off and began to sprint circles around the last combatant. Every now and then he would see flashes of her through the grass as she jumped from cover to cover. The fighter clutched his sword tightly, turning his head this way and that to try and find her. Every now and then Kamba slammed her tail into the ground, using that weight to kick up some dirt.
“This is it folks! You do NOT want to miss this! The huntress is closing in on her prey!” By now, the entire arena was on its feet, staring at the spectacle below. Kamba let out a powerful roar JUST as she leapt from the grass to where the gladiator was. Through the clouds of dust, the lioness saw a metallic glint…and then nothing. Her sight went black as she slammed her body into the soldier. In her painful flailing, her claws landed more then enough strikes to eliminate the final combatant…but at the loss of her sight. Once the dust cleared, the crowed was greeted with their huntress rolling around snarling as she pawed at her eyes. A hush fell over the entire arena as Bjorn quickly lift the gate, allowing Dhoruba to run to his sister. Of course, to everyone in attendance, all they heard was the painful yowls of a lioness…though it was Dhoruba who heard the true depth of his sister’s cries.
“Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! B-brother!! W-where are you? I, I can’t see!” she cried out, tears and blood streaming down her face. Dhoruba ran over to her and gently nuzzled her, letting her know he was near. He gave a few licks to her face, trying to clear up the blood. His own eyes widened as he took a single step back upon seeing the damage. The sword had made a deep cut across the bridge of her nose, and into both of her eyes. He could already tell her sight would never be the same, if she ever got it back. Dhoruba roared back to Bjorn, trying to get his attention. Without wasting a moment, Bjorn ran out to the center of the arena to where his two lions were.
“Sister…sister, I am here. I am right here next to you. I have called master, he will know how to fix you.” He reached out and placed his paw on top of hers.
“ *Hisssss* B-brother, please tell me, and do NOT lie.” Dhoruba sighed heavily and gently licked her cheek in reassurance.
“No…you won’t, the cut went very deep.” Kamba’s ears folded against her skull as she flopped onto her side, and wept.

“They no longer sting like they have been, can I please take off this…cloth around my eyes?” Dhoruba leaned down and took the cloth in his teeth, and pulled it off over her head. For the first time since the accident, the male saw the damage to his sister’s eyes. Her once brilliant amber gaze, was now a soft clouded white. A large horizonal scar ran from one eye, across her nose, and across her other eye. She blinked a few times as a couple tears ran down her cheek. Kamba’s eyes darted back and forth in frustration before she slammed that weighted tail of hers down. “Stercore!!” she cursed out angrily. She then lifted her head up and glanced around, her ears twitching heavily. “P-please brother…do not leave me!” She whimpered, starting to paw at the air around her. Dhoruba leaned down and pressed his cheek into her paw to reassure her he was there.
“Do not worry dear sister, I will never leave your side.” Responded the male with a soft smile. “I would never dream of it. We should rest here for the night, I will keep watch.”
“Goodnight Dhoruba”
“Sleep well Kamba, may the ancestors watch over you this night”
