oh it was, used Vector art on the geears and acid etched them out until the brass was thin and dremeled them to be clean cut

Well what id want to know first is how you added the wood paneling and if i can use any material.

well the wood paneling is birch I cut to the size I wanted , 1000 grit sanded, then stained twice (light stain don't shake use the lighter stuff at the top of mix), varnished then sand to smooth then varnish again. Once Dry I used gorillia glue to apply it (use pressure for that a big book with a 10lb wieght) then later you can use turtle wax on the whole thing to give it a shine.

Nice, I wish I could get an aluminum replacement case for mine, it's just cause it's a dual core and they like to run hot, also it has a decent GPU so that runs hot.

what type of heatsink is on it?

um.... Have no idea, last time I tried to open the case I broke my speakers and now have to use a usb to stereo adapter.... LOL

I just mean I wish they made replacement cases, or made it out of aluminum in the first place, I could care less if it weighs 5 more pounds if it runs better and lasts longer.

Oh I got out all the screws, it's the unnecessary snaps that got me.

ya after you take out the screws the entire seam has snaps, and well first thing you do to try to pop um is stick a screw driver in there... XD I think I either ripped the wire off that leads to my speakers or punctured them.

Wire fixes are easy funnel punctures not as much

the usb adapter was easier, because if I try opening up this case again I may do more damage, I don't have the specialized tools needed to pop the snaps.

well it's no big deal as long as I have my head phones, though speakers would be nice, I may be selling this laptop to a my friend's mother after I move.

well I got this for $600 it had 2 gig ram and a 120gig hd, I put a 320 high performance drive in and 4 gigs of ram, I am selling for $500 with the usb adapter for the sound.

yup, it's why I got it, I was looking for an HP or an Acer.

About the only laptop mod I've considered is possibly getting a MacBook, installing Windows on it, then modding the lid so when the Apple logo lights up, the Windows logo shines through it.

yeah if you want an HP machine then buy an Asus machine. HP uses alot of Asus motherboards in their rigs.

supposidly Asus makes motherboards for almost every computer out there x3 Are they a good and reliable computer? It was either them or a Sony, but the keys on the Vios I was looking at where so TINY ._.

Yeah I have good luck with Asus boards, hell the systems I found and salvaged have had good Asus boards in them

modded an asus z71v, fiberglass filler in the holes to make it flush then stain wood vanear and cut brass for the gears
