Nevix's bedroom would be surprising to anyone who knew him to some degree. Where the labs he ran were sleek, cold and sterile, the boss's living quarters was almost like a teenagers; it was lit from above from a ceiling fan, posters were hung on the walls and the floor was a warm, brown carpet. It was almost a complete 180 from the mood that Nevix exuded, like it was something nostalgic locked and hidden deep beneath layers of stoicism and sternness.
Despite that, it did not make Doctor Iterati Trousers any less terrified when he realized that he had appeared right in the middle of it. He would be absolutely livid at the idiot who fired that teleportation ray at him if he wasn't completely mortified at the thought of getting caught by Nevix in what had to be one of his most private of places. Thankfully--at least in this context--his fear caused the doctor to shrink down in size, stopping at about four inches tall. He could only guess his height based on gut instinct, however, as like with the laboratories, everything in Nevix's room was Nevix size, making it all tower over him all the more.
Doctor Trousers found himself standing in an ankle-high sea of carpet, Nevix's stacked-mattress bed towering over him yet failing to cast any shade from the ceiling fan light above. The door was a ways away, but before Iterati even thought to head to it, it opened. Nevix stormed into the room, his flipflops causing tremors that the doctor could feel even through the plush carpet. Iterati froze, his back against the bed, but to his great fortune, Nevix was too busy examining a clipboard to notice him. The triceratops padded across the room and flopped gracelessly on his bed, kicking off his flipflops which nearly crushed the poor serpent underneath them. Taking no chances, Doctor Trousers began his trek across the room, hoping with all his might that Nevix would keep his attention on his clipboard or fall asleep before noticing him.
Unfortunately for him, Nevix managed to catch something moving out of the corner of his eye, and spotted his employee sneaking through the carpet. Only briefly surprised by his unexpected guest, Nevix decided to give him a proper welcome.
This is the first page of five in a comic commissioned by
NevixRaptor, showing off my first real foray into modeling environments from scratch. I had a lot of fun modeling the various furniture and props in this room, and hopefully we'll get to see more of it in future projects.
