"Hey Kako, you got a minute?"
The Kecleon gulped as she heard (and felt) the heavy stomps coming up from behind her. Generally she would feel this if ANY of her teammates were near, but it was especially nerve-racking when she considered whose voice these stomps were tied too. Kako turned around to face the giant. "W... what is it, Shelly?"
The Salamence towered over her like a skyscraper. Kako could feel breath shaky as she gazed up past the massive pair of breasts up at the pair of savage red eyes staring back down at her. Shelly spoke. "Looks like you and I got paired up for next double battle competition, and I'm hopin' to give our opponents a good squashin', and as much as I'd love to just do it myself, it wouldn't be a team effort, so you're gonna have to back me up real good..."
She stepped closer, rattling Kako's cage with the stomp, and further rattling it when the big dragon's hip began to press against her own. "So, you ready...?" Shelly asked expectantly.
Kako took a deep breath. "Y... yeah, I-I'm ready..." she stuttered. She hoped it was enough to impress her larger teammate for the moment. She was met, however, which a serious glare from the Salemence that lasted for several seconds, far longer than the Kecleon felt necessary. She held her breath as the looming dragon eyed her down.
"... Good, " Shelly said at last. She turned and began to stomp away. "Meet me in the gym in one hour. We gotta think up some combos."
Kako watched the Salamence exit the locker room, briefly wedging herself in the doorway on her way out. The Kecleon exhaled, then grunted. That talk had tensed several nerves in her. The worst part was, Shelly wasn't even TRYING to size her up...
... Or was she?

Let's start the year off with a couple of girls I haven't drawn in a while. Gave them a couple of updates as well (over-the-shoulder ponytail for Kako, and a slightly deeper blue for Shelly). Haven't done the comic-style shading in a while either.
So, there's a lot of sizing up that can happen within Giga Force without it needing to involve Gus. Although Kako's got an average height, compared to the rest of the girls, she's the runt. So in situations where she's expected to come through for the team, she can feel pretty intimidated... but apart from the coaches, no one intimidates her more than the cynical Shelly.
Kako's still a big gal... Shelly's just a bigger gal.
