Tlingit, my cat, does this a lot with either paper bags (hiding under them, not in them), or .... just paper. this paper is just a discarded 8.5x11 piece of printer paper with some sort of diagram doodled on it. she does not judge the paper.
the cutest thing about when she does this though, is that she appears to think that she is hidden from all view when she is under a piece of paper.

They tend to hide their eyes behind tiniest objects. One kitty that was stalking me in the night had its eyes covered with grass stalks on most shots I took of it. The only one where it didn't was when I used an UV flashlight to locate and focus on it from an outstretched hand -- it hid eyes from the light, but not from flash/camera.
That's fabulous! Cats are just full of random goodness! My last one would steal boxes, plastic grocery bags and baskets. He saw one box he wanted and pretended to smell a mouse until we dismantled the pile and emptied the box. Next thing we knew, he was just sitting as proud as you'd please in the box, imaginary mouse forgotten!
