I think this is why some people have problems with gays and lesbians. This is why I did this bit of comic, as well as work though issues of my own.
Sex and sexuality are made to be such MASSIVE issues in today's society, much more so than they need be. Even though it is the 21st century, being homosexual, or even just bisexual shifts peoples preception of you. And when I watch American television, especially anything dealing with news or politics, this difference is enough to ruin your life or even end it. Can't we all just get along or are we all so selfish and self-centred as a people to care for our fellow man?

The problem is that being selfish and self-centered are important survival traits from our evolution. Civilization is an attempt by our sapience to counter the more negative aspects of these traits, but nothing is perfect.
In the end, what it takes for people to get along is simply to lower the importance of the more strife-ridden things in society. Sex, Religion, Politics, and Lawyers all have too much power in our current society, and thus they cause strife.

people are almost trained to fear what they don't understand, a hetorosexual cannot even begin to understand what it'slike to have feelings for the same-sex, so they fear it... I've once known someone who got defensive about his girlfriend when he learnedI was bi... *shruggs* I blame it on the Christians some too, but that's just me... =^^=
Oh, well, I don't really blame the Christains. Most Christians I know don't have much of an issue with homosexuals as you might think, and those that do, grew up in the 50s and early to mid 60s, back when a woman's place was in the kitchen, blacks were a second class people, and if you were gay, you better have stayed in the closet if you knew what was good for you... The only people I find that has a massive problem with homosexuals are Catholics actually... The rest of the Christian world is sort of woffling between acceptance and hate, or so it seems to me.

I know some cool Christians, hell, I know a couple GAY Christians, it's just most of the Christians I "ran with" back when I /was/ christian, wouldn't be the most accepting of my current standards of living... *shruggs* heck, I'm afraid to tell part of my family I'm bi, simply from the talks I've had with them about the whole gay marriage issue down here in the states... but, they happen to live in Ohio, and I haven't seen them since New Year's... though, atleast one of them survived stinky Ohio without going all 'Jesus-Freak'-ish, I have nothing against Christianity as a whole, nice religion and all, but my cousins were cooler to hangout with before they got their 'religious zeal' and I hope that the one stays without it... =^^=
