"The black and white dino introduced itself as "Cid", which was nice information to have, but then he asked the Koopa what HIS name was. It was the first time anybody had ever asked him such a question, let alone any question at all. The Koopa was unsure of how to answer, or rather, he couldn't. Sure he had been called "punk", "thief", "brat", and...other less than savory words before, but none of them were a name. Survival had been the number one priority, a name just never occurred to him.
So he simply shrugged, pulling the dino, Cid, into thought. For our protagonist however, there was the still-obvious concern. He shuffled into sitting position, the padding under him crinkling loudly, and started waving his hands to try and get the Cid's attention again. It was plainly obvious from the Koopa's starring that there was a question HE wanted answered.
Cid went on explaining about various "accidents" that had occurred, much to the Koopa's worrisome terror. Shocked, he held his hands up in a defensive way. He didn't NEED these things at all. Only babies and hatchlings wear the things, not him. They made a lot of noise and looked ridiculous. Nothing a self-respecting thief would have. Sure, it looked rather comfy but...
...what was he thinking!?
The Koopa's skepticism as to the dino's reason was breached further when Cid pulled out a clearly soaked, sagging diaper from a cylinder nearby. It looked exactly like the one he was wearing. Between that and the pack of diapers that had been placed on the table, the dino's statement seemed to be true.
But still, a thief had to have pride. The Koopa folded his arms, trying to give his best un-approving look. Whether this Cid was telling the truth or not, this was not something the Koopa wanted. The Koopa ignored the dino's comment about talking...sure, he'd never really learned to probably speak...mostly relying on primal grunts and the like. A word or two, maybe, but he wasn't about to waste more time with this creature.
While the dino threw the used padding back into it's container, talking about such things as parents (which only increased the speed of the protagonist's action), the Koopa passed by Cid at a wide waddle. Strangely, it didn't occur to him to just untape the padding and throw it away.
The crinkling and shuffling drew Cid out of what seemed to be some personal nostalgia, and he tried to stop the Koopa from leaving. He managed to stop him at the door, talking of helping him, telling him he didn't have to be alone.
The Koopa stopped at the door for two reasons. One was the sight of the beautiful plains, trees, and skies, before him, not to mention the mass of water in the distance. What WAS this place? It was so...different from where he'd come from. It looked....better.
The second reason was what Cid had said. Alone. He had been alone for so long. Nobody really ever offered to help him before....
...he...really could just...leave anytime he wanted. Maybe...he'd see what this "help" was first, what it was like...and then decide what to do..."
